30 years of history in the seed
Golden West Seeds (GWS) is a seed breeding company with more than 30 years of history. GWS through its affiliates in Bulgaria, Türkiye, Cyprus, Middle East and South Africa is addressing the needs of farmers across the world.
GWS offers safety and quality
We offer a complete range of technical and sustainable solutions for corn, cotton and alfalfa, built for safety and quality. Our products are specifically designed to improve and and secure yields in a wide range of weather conditions, supported by our technologies like MSS technology in corn, PLUS seed coating technology in cotton and corn, and our early cotton development program, which combines earliness, superior fiber quality and high productivity.
Sustainable yields in various weather conditions
Our mission goes beyond maximizing yield: we aim to secure farmers’ profitability. To do so, we test our products across Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East, in a wide range of weather and soil conditions. This gives us a precise picture of how each product performs in the agroclimatic conditions where it will be grown.
Our R&D teams are developing products adapted to the major future challenges, such as global warming and limited water resources, to offer farmers the best possible solutions.
Our corn breeding program began more than 30 years ago in the United States and shifted to Europe in 2005. It develops hybrids from 180 to 700 FAO. As climatic conditions becoming more adverse, hybrids needs to be equally adaptive so we focus on:
- High yield stability
- High grain and silage quality
- Heat and drought tolerance
- MSS technology
- PLUS technology
Our alfalfa varieties combine genetics from Australia, Asia and the United States, in dormancy groups 5–9. Their main characteristics are:
- Excellent seed vigor
- High protein content
- High digestibility
- Fast recovery after each cut
- Extra-fine stems with a high leaf-to-stem ratio
- Tolerance to insects and diseases, for healthy and vigorous plants
Our cotton breeding program offers upland varieties, long-staple varieties and hybrids. It combines a wide range of maturities, from extra early to late, with superior fiber quality (length, strength, micronaire) and high productivity. Our main breeding directions are:
- A wide range of maturities
- High yield (seed cotton and fiber)
- Superior fiber quality
Golden West successfully managed to combine all three characteristics in its new generation varieties named Golden Fiber).
Vision
Our vision is to become a significant player in the agricultural sector across our markets, and to influence agricultural technology and business.
In Golden West we recognize the responsibility that comes with our expansion and hold all our activities to the highest environmental, social and business standards.
We remain committed to adding value across the whole agricultural chain and invest steadily towards that goal.
